REAL Solutions
Millions of limited-income, low-wealth households in the United States do not turn to mainstream financial institutions for their financial services. Instead, America’s most financially vulnerable households are turning to ‘alternnative financial services’ outlets to meet their basic financial needs.
The REAL Solutions approach aligns products and services with the basic needs of the low-wealth consumer. By offering products that meet these needs, credit unions can expand their service area and give consumers much-needed relief.
Lois Kitsch, Director of Field Services for the Filene Institute, was in Albuquerque in early November to talk about REAL Solutions. For a summary of Fitsch’s presentation, see this Powerpoint slide show in PDF form.
