Online learning system helps users map career path for common CU positions
MADISON, Wis. - Credit union professionals using CUNA’s self-study learning courses can easily determine the type of training and education they need to succeed in some of the most common credit union positions through new specialized career path learning plans.
Plans are offered for positions such as: accounting clerk, branch manager, collector, compliance officer, loan processor, loan officer, vice president lending, marketing manager, member service representative, teller, head teller, and teller manager. An additional learning plan is geared toward new employee orientation training, and consists of a smaller selection of the original core competency courses.
The plans integrate a variety of print and online courses from four of CUNA’s popular self-study programs to provide a comprehensive credit-union specific learning experience. Courses are from Regulatory Compliance and Certification Program (RegTraC) Levels 1 and 2, Staff Training and Recognition Program (STAR), Management Enrichment Training Program (MERIT), and CU Advance.
Each plan begins with core competency courses to establish a knowledge base in: bankruptcy, compliance, credit union orientation, member services and accounts, human resource staffing and employment laws, interpersonal skills and career building, management skills and managing employee performance, marketing, sales, security, and technology. From there, learners move onto specialized coursework in their career field of interest to complete their training plan.
Many of the courses also offer recognition opportunities such as certificates, designations, or college credit as documentation of the learning experience.
