Consumer Reports touts credit union benefits

A new article about credit unions from Consumer Reports is available to read online.

Credit unions serve up
rates that will often beat
your local bank’s offerings.

The article, “Credit unions continue expansion into banks’ turf,” discusses credit union services and tells consumers how to find a credit union to join and “take advantage of superior rates.” With respect to membership opportunities, the article says, “If you weren’t eligible to join a credit union before, you might be now.”

While mostly favorable, the article does touch on the bankers’ opposition to the credit unions’ tax-exempt status and their “unfair competitive advantage.”
