The mission of the Credit Union Association of New Mexico’s governmental affairs department is to pass policy provisions to strengthen credit union charters, to defend credit unions against adverse legislation, and to positively position credit unions in the political arena through grassroots activities.

Credit union leaders from Albuquerque area meet with two NM Congressmen


Albuquerque credit unions took charge and attended two events on March 29, 2010 that provided them with an opportunity to promote the credit union difference and legislative priorities. Thanks for your support and involvement!
NM credit unions go to Washington to Hike the Hill
A Group of over 16 credit union representatives took part of the Credit Union National Association's
Governmental Affairs Conference and visited all five congressional offices meeting personally with New Mexico's elected officials. The credit union advocates discussed how they are helping New Mexico's communities cope with the economic downturn and helping these communities turn around. These activities underscored the importance for credit unions to be included in the jobs legislation being considered by congress since credit unions could infuse over $10 billion dollars into America's Small businesses without costing tax payers a dime.
